Walking

Walking. The Chinese have a tradition in walking. According to them, one shall never have good health until he doesn't walk 5555 steps a day. Buy a pedometer. It is an indispensable assistant. With the pedometer you'll know whether you walk enough. And if during the walk your back becomes stiff then according to your current health condition you've walked enough and you are tired. Walking is the best exercise. Unlike the harmful for the body running about which I shall explain later on in this book walking trains body in perfectly balanced way without leading to the formation of lactate (lactic acid in the muscles) which in turn requires from the body excess quantity of oxygen for its reverse conversion into pyruvate (pyruvic acid) which in turn is a starting product for the aerobic cellular respiration.

Lactate is a substance used in anaerobic (fermentation) respiration of the cells as it provides only 7% of utilization of glucose in energy metabolism within the body compared to pyruvate which provides 16 times more energy to muscles during prolonged (but not hard) body training what walking actually is. In other words walking is energetically and medically justified as opposed to running.

Cortisone (same as cortisol) is a hormone of the adrenal gland and is involved in many physiological reactions. Its level in the body is the highest in the morning, at noon it is in half and in the evening it is depleted. Cortisone is directly related to oxidation of fatty acids and therefore helps to melt fat in workouts. The fastest weight loss is achieved by walking in the morning before breakfast on an empty stomach. Due to the fact that you move there is no way your blood sugar to drop to dangerously low levels (hypoglycaemia).
